Unsigned Magazine invites a top NOISE music act to headline a high-profile gig, which marks the launch of their new publication, designed for unsigned UK musicians. The gig coincides with the NOISE 2008 Showcase launch party on Second Life.
Badly Drawn Boy Curator Choice, The Rossmannfrister Project, from Sheffield, are chosen to headline the gig in front of an audience of 100 guests at the Manchester’s historic Dry Bar, famed for gigs by Oasis and Elbow, and once owned by New Order.
Badly Drawn Boy also pops along to the gig to offer his words of wisdom on playing live to the band.
They were different live to that track [they submitted] but in a good way because my one fear was that they had just one good song and then you’re going to watch half an hour’s worth of not very good stuff. I was pleased I had made a decent choice. If anything the other songs were better than the track that I judged them by so that’s a pretty good sign. They kind of had a bigger sound than the demo suggested...they did really well.
