Not your typical Arts festival...

NOISE is not your typical arts festival. It has no physical location; the central hub of activity takes place on the NOISE website and across the media - print, television, radio and online - making it the first 'virtual' festival of its kind in Europe.

NOISE exhibits the very best in creative talent from people 30 and under - any creative work that can be presented digitally (on screen or on air) including across fashion, film, music, design, architecture, written word, graphic design, fine art and illustration.

The opportunity for success is not based on where you live, your ethnicity or your contacts in the creative industry, but on the originality and quality of new talent. The NOISE website acts as the gateway to submissions which means that you can live anywhere in the UK (or in the world for that matter!) and it's free to take part.

During the biennial festival period, the website becomes the main platform to showcase the best of the work submitted. In addition, NOISE works with the media - magazines, television channels and radio stations to promote NOISE talent via dedicated features, profiles and programmes.

The best work is selected for media showcase by a panel of leading creative professionals that NOISE invites to curate - individuals who push forward the boundries of their discipline and have left a lasting legacy on the cultural landscape. The panel of NOISE curators have included legendary designer Peter Saville, British artist Stella Vine, Mercury Music Prize Winner Badly Drawn Boy, Turner Prize nominee Photographer Richard Billingham, top UK Designer Tom Dixon, Norman Rosenthal formally of the Royal Academy of Arts and top creative entrepreneur Wayne Hemingway.

In this way, NOISE provides a highly accessible and innovative platform to young creatives; offering credible media coverage and the exposure to kick start their careers in the creative industries.

To achieve this, NOISE is supported by a wide range of media partners including BBC and MTV plus print partners including Disorder, Blueprint, Computer Arts and Aesthetica. NOISE also partners with leading arts organisations and individuals to develop projects which cultivate creativity. In 2006 this included a fine art project with TATE, a design project with top international street artists and 'Dreamjobs', an initiative to get young talent work placements at some of the best companies in the UK.

The breadth of support that NOISE has generated demonstrates recognition from within the arts and media community and that there is a real lack of creative opportunities for young people in the UK. NOISE seeks to address this balance and is committed to finding the best and most appropriate platforms to highlight and promote genuine creative talent.

NOISE originated in Australia in 1998 where it has become the voice and vision for young Australia, regarded as an established and important part of the country's cultural landscape. NOISE Singapore launched in 2005. NOISE in Europe is based in England and run by the Noise Festival charity.

If you want to get involved and bring your talent to the attention of the public, simply register, create your NOISE Portfolio and upload your work! NOISE 2010, complete with another round of curators and creative projects will launch late 2009. You can help spread the word about NOISE by joining the NOISE Street Team.
