Cara Fairbairn graduated from Glasgow School of Art in June 2008 and is currently working as a contemporary designer/maker based in Glasgow. She has spent the past year designing, making and exhibiting her collections throughout Britain including London, Manchester, Kent and Glasgow. She has achieved many successes including being named as one on the top 45 new designers of 2009 by Islington Design Centre, London. From her studio in Glasgow she produces contemporary hand made jewellery which is 1920's inspired. Every aspect of the Great Gatsby era creatively excites her from the elegance & drama of the jazz age, to the decoration and styling of the garments, the adornment of glamour and the sense of excitement. The collection mainly incorporates sterling silver, oxidised sterling silver, black onyx, freshwater pearls, garnets and rose quartz. Cara applies her individual, contemporary styling to age the materials to produce a timeless collection of jewellery with a 'modern vintage' theme.
