I approach often difficult subject matter within my work and transform it into something beautiful. Drawing from personal experience and ephemera, I create visual histories, vague but not yet forgotten. Printing provides the vehicle through which I explore the discordance between aesthetic beauty and human experience. The physical components of my work and the way in which they are placed mirror the fragmented memories of an Alzheimer’s sufferer. The nostalgia and vividness of a distant youth are represented alongside more recent, clouded recollections. The subtle juxtaposition of aesthetic and subject aims to protect the viewer from the harsh realities of an upsetting situation.
